The School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) invites applications for positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in Computing and Information Technology. The school offers several trendy programs such as Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology (Computer Systems, Network Systems, and Cloud Computing & Big Data), Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Science and AI (AI & Data Analytics, AI & IoT), Bachelor of Applied Science in Data and Cybersecurity (Ethical Hacking, Cyber ​​Defense, Industrial Control Systems Security, Cybersecurity Policy and Governance) and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Systems (Software Development, mobile and web, and database design and administration).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary role of faculty members in the School of Computing and Information Technology is to promote high-quality teaching, applied research, and innovative services. In addition, he/she should collaborate with the Head of Department, School Dean, and colleagues to achieve the mission of the department and school, mentor junior colleagues and teaching assistants, and support the department and the school with several administrative and academic services.

Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of courses. Special areas of interest include computer systems, network systems and administration, big data and cloud computing; but applicants with strong expertise in other related fields will also be considered.

Other duties include evaluating student progress and managing learning environment resources. The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and monitor projects in the specified program area. Faculty members will maintain course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.

Qualifications required:

For the assistant professor

A PhD in a computer science field such as computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a closely related field. Three years of teaching experience in a higher education environment, plus 3 years of work experience as a practitioner/professional in a relevant discipline is preferred. Candidates must also be recognized in the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer, or professional practice that should be international in scope; A minimum of 2 journal articles indexed in Scopus or similar is required.
  • Contribution to the advancement of learning through the leadership of teaching and curriculum development;
  • Professional recognition and reputation with peers;
  • Direction of an academic subject or academic management.

For the associate professor

A PhD in a computer science field such as computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a closely related field. At least 5 years of experience in higher education is required. Additionally, 5 years of industrial experience as a practitioner/professional in a relevant discipline is preferred. Candidates must also be recognized in the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer, or professional practice that should be international in scope; A minimum of 5 journal articles indexed in Scopus or similar is required.
  • Contribution to the advancement of learning through the leadership of teaching and curriculum development;
  • Professional recognition and reputation with peers;
  • Direction of an academic subject or academic management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional certifications in computer science and information technology.
  • Record of successful participation/leadership in applied research projects.
  • Leadership and innovation experience in technology-enabled projects.
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in education (eg post-secondary, adult education or vocational training).

Other skills required:

  • Extensive knowledge and work experience in different areas of IT and IT systems as listed above.
  • Commitment to applied and experiential learning as a pedagogy and a key part of the College’s mandate.
  • Ability to design, develop, deliver and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize learning of content in context and develop knowledge, skills and attitudes identified in program outcomes .
  • Proficiency in Enhanced Learning technology, e-learning platforms and new pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technology-enhanced learning environments that allow students to actively participate in their own learning.
  • Commitment to the effectiveness, vitality and self-renewal of the teaching profession through continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and collegial spirit and demonstrated ability to build relationships with learners, colleagues, employer-sponsors and community members
