About SASA The South African Sugar Association (SASA) provides a diverse range of highly specialized services to the South African sugar industry and our activities are funded primarily by cane growers and sugar companies. Our mission is to provide specialist services that enhance the profitability, global competitiveness and sustainability of the South African sugar industry. SASA operates from approximately 45 locations in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Gauteng. These include Kwa-Shukela and the South African Sugar Cane Research Institute (SASRI) based at Mount Edgecombe, Shukela Training Center at Mount Edgecombe and Mtunzini, Sugar Terminals at Maydon Wharf and Maputo, currently 11 sugarcane testing centers, seven SASRI research stations, 17 pest and disease/biosecurity offices and SASA offices in Pretoria. SASA is a hugely diverse organization employing around 1,000 people in a wide range of specialist fields, including agriculture, science, engineering, management and a range of business-related fields.

The Information Systems (IS) department provides technical support to computer users of the divisions of the South African Sugar Association (SASA). The department is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of all computer network services. We are looking for a talented Information Technology Generalist to support the IS team in delivering appropriate and effective technology solutions to internal stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director of Information Systems and based in Mount Edgecombe, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support in the areas of local and wide area networks, enterprise system, messaging and productivity applications, network and storage infrastructure, computer security, end-user computing environments, computer hardware/software/printing solutions.

Qualification/Experience/Knowledge

  • A Bachelor’s degree/BTech degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related fields.
  • Current Microsoft Certified System Engineer.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certifications.
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on technical support experience in a Microsoft and Cisco integrated networking environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange as well as Microsoft System Center management products.
  • A valid driver’s license

Bonus Points

  • Experience installing, configuring and maintaining SharePoint.
