Applications are invited for nomination as Postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Informatics in Education of the Faculty of Education (Ref: 515493), starting as soon as possible until June 30, 2023.
Candidates should have a PhD in social sciences, education, psychology or a related discipline. They should have at least 1 year of relevant work experience, good communication skills and excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese). Applicants should have strong leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and be self-motivated. Preference will be given to those familiar with the local education system and who have experience working with schools and managing educational research projects. Knowledge of quantitative research data analysis using advanced statistical methods (e.g. MPlus, R) is an advantage. The ability to work to a tight schedule to meet project deadlines is essential to succeed in this role. They should also be responsible and able to work independently and in a team with different stakeholders (eg NGOs, schools, teachers and parents).
The appointee will work on a project titled “eCitizen Education 360: An extension of the Learning and Assessment for Digital Citizenship” (e360 (2022)). The goal of the project is to understand teaching and learning opportunities and outcomes during (and after) the fifth wave of school suspension and how outcomes are influenced by a full range of factors (or enablers) at school , teacher, parents and student level. He/She should lead the project team to coordinate different aspects of the project and conduct research in a collaborative manner as shown below:
- be responsible for the design/improvement of research instruments;
- work with project team members to coordinate data collection and support the organization of dissemination events;
- assist in report preparation and data analysis; and
- perform other assigned duties (if applicable).
