EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – Emporia Battalion Chief Bill Harmon described an early morning structural fire at Coach’s Grill and Bar as a “total loss”.
Harmon told NEWS 13 Lyon Co. Dispatch was called around 4:45 am Saturday morning following a report of a structural fire.
Harmon said the flames were extinguished between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
He said a preliminary investigation showed the fire started in the restaurant’s kitchen, but the source of the fire was under investigation.
The battalion commander did not know the estimated cost of the damage caused by the fire, but said the building itself was a “total loss” and the fire burned the roof of the building.
He said the only way to rebuild anything is to bulldoze the building.
Harmon said no one was injured, but investigators are looking to see if anyone was in the building.
